Voices from Ecuador, Argentina and the United States – The new testimonies of November
Choices, freedom and new forms of relationships
This month the testimonies added to the Lunàdigas Live Archive come from three different continents and recount – in their unique ways – the freedom to choose if and how to take care of oneself and the others.
Jhenefer: “I cannot focus my emotions on another person who will totally depend on me”
Jhenefer, a young psychologist from Ecuador, tells us how her choice not to have children was influenced by her profession supporting women victims of violence. For her, a child would represent a continuous responsibility, too great to keep supporting alongside the work of listening and caring that she already carries out every day.
Daniela T.: “Living alone and being with myself is fantastic”
Daniela T., an architect from Buenos Aires, reflects on how her family history – both maternal and paternal – has affected her condition as a childfree woman, also shared by sisters and cousins. Her testimony offers a lucid and timely insight into the lives of childfree women and men in contemporary Argentina.
Jennifer: “I don’t have children but I have my nephews and nieces and my students”
Jennifer, a Spanish teacher for health in Washington D.C., tells of her life marked by her love for sports and teaching. The absence of biological children is compensated by the love and care for her nieces and nephews and for her students.

With Lumen, Antonella Maddalena writes much more than the story of a caterpillar that turns into a butterfly. Lumen, first ugly then beautiful, discovers an indomitable, overflowing, furious eros which is released beyond the boundaries of any patriarchal fable shaped by male desires or by the expectations of women who are their own tormentors, “ancestors of cages, blood and tears”. A disruptive, vital and necessary narrative.
Spazio Aperto – service broadcast for Rai Parlamento – thanks to the curator Cristina Petrucci, has dedicated an episode to the new project Le Osmonaute, which aims to collect, describe and publish audiovisual memories of women, building an intergenerational social memory that crosses roles, identity and political participation of women, starting from the archives of Lunàdigas, Tutte a casa and Senza Rossetto.
