News of October
The new content for the month of October tells stories of motherhood, parenthood and unconventional families. Experiences that focus on women and queer people building new families, caring for themselves and others, and self-determination through science and medicine. From Veronika’s pregnancy, achieved through assisted fertilisation, to Mats’ reflections on elective parenthood, to the lives marked by assisted reproduction treatments recounted by Gaia, Nadia and the others, each story shows how motherhood, family and care can take different forms, made up of conscious choices, shaped by the desires and decisions of those who experience them.
To complete this journey, a special event in Rome presents the newly launched project Le Osmonaute, which opens a unique portal where women’s memories meet and intertwine: three archives – Senza Rossetto , Lunàdigas and Tutte a casa – which collect video interviews, testimonies and video diaries, offering a glimpse into everyday history, suspended lives and women’s desires. A vibrant space for storytelling, exploration and participation that brings women’s memories into schools, communities and everyday life.
Veronika: the choice to preserve the future
Veronika, 47, originally from Siberia, tells Lunàdigas about her pregnancy, achieved through IVF in Greece. Her experience is an invitation to use science as a tool for self-determination, through practices such as egg freezing, in order to consciously decide when to experience motherhood.
Mats: the elective family as a care network
Mats, a non-binary person, reflects on the sense of parenthood, biological and otherwise, within the queer community. Between sperm freezing, adoption and shared responsibility, a clear vision emerges: parenthood can be chosen, built and nurtured through elective relationships, beyond the boundaries of the biological family.

The book tells the stories of women who undergo assisted reproductive technology treatments, making enormous sacrifices to achieve an extraordinary normality that comes naturally to others. An intense reading that explores courage, resilience and determination, showing the complexity of assisted motherhood and the strength of those who choose their own path.
Events: Le Osmonaute in Rome
On 17 and 18 October in Rome, in the San Lorenzo district, there will be two days of meetings, workshops and screenings dedicated to the female universe, as part of Le Osmonaute project. On October 17th at 6:30 pm, a press conference will be held to present the new web portal that collects three archives of women’s memories: Senza Rossetto, Lunàdigas and Tutte a Casa. Senza Rossetto collects audiovisual memories of women in the years leading up to 2 June 1946, exploring female imagery and everyday history alongside major historical events. Lunàdigas documents the experiences of childfree women, investigating the reasons, desires and emotions related to the choice of motherhood or non-motherhood. Tutte a Casa collects video diaries and digital memories of the pandemic, offering a glimpse into the suspended lives and daily narratives of that period.
The next day, from 16:00 to 20:30, three documentaries born from the projects of the three archives will be screened. We start with Lunàdigas, or concerning childfree women at 16:00, followed by Senza Rossetto at 17:30 and Tutte a Casa – digital memories from a suspended world at 19:00. This unique event is the result of a cultural and sisterhood partnership that celebrates creativity, memory and the sharing of women’s stories, offering the public the opportunity for discussion and participation with the authors and protagonists of the films.
