June is Pride month, and for Lunàdigas this means, as always, returning to those lives that step out from the margins, to those relationships that invent new ways of being together and of existing, to those people who continue to fight for their desires to be recognised, even when the world tries to curtail freedom of expression and action.
The Live Archive features the testimony of Andrea, a queer performer and non-binary person, who reflects on the desire for parenthood whilst grappling with economic insecurity, legal constraints and cultural barriers that make family life an increasingly elusive privilege today.
In their words, the idea of legacy moves away from genetics and takes shape in bonds, in mutual care, in support for one’s community. A ‘legacy’ built day by day, within relationships born of choice and emotional responsibility, not of obligation or convention.
Meanwhile, work continues on the European women’s circles, which are still collecting experiences and reflections on the relationship between motherhood, personal freedom and social expectations. This time, the focus shifts to Essen, Germany, where new stories once again demonstrate how regulatory pressures on bodies and lives affect different countries, cultures and generations.
In the Stories section, Claudia Mazzilli reviews The Goddess and Her Heroes by Heide Goettner-Abendroth. Drawing on ancient matriarchal mythologies, the book presents an image of the hero that is very different from the dominant one: not a figure built on domination and conquest, but a presence that puts their strength at the service of the community and relationships.
From 12th to 14th June, Lunàdigas will be among the organisations organising the fifth edition of SanLo Pride, a neighbourhood Pride event built from the grassroots together with organisations, groups, activists and local residents of San Lorenzo district.
Four days of pride, demands and aspirations within a self-organised, transfeminist and queer festival that places the bodies, relationships, stories, resistance and joys of marginalised subjectivities at its heart.
On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June, from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm, at QUELLE, Lunàdigas’s venue in San Lorenzo, we invite you to take part in a new campaign to collect personal accounts focusing on themes of queerness and identity.
For two days, QUELLE will be a space open to anyone who feels the need to tell their story, share an experience or leave a testimony of their history. An opportunity to speak freely about yourself, your relationships and your way of being in the world.
