News of September

For the month of September we had promised you amazing surprises.

And here we are, finally, presenting to the whole community our Lunàdigas new virtual exhibition space: the project prendo pArte, which we inaugurated with the artist Paola Valenzano, has finally taken shape.

A shape that looks like a house. A house without doors that opens to infinity, ideally and concretely an open construction site ready to welcome the works and eager to grow and transform together with them, drawing new lifeblood and inspiration from the artists they will exhibit.

A virtual environment, built thanks to artsteps, very easy to navigate and explore (all the instructions on our site!) that with time, it will be enriched with new rooms, new exhibitions, new ways of meeting with the works of art and the artists.

The goal is to create a real virtual gallery of Lunàdigas, an explosive and multifaceted hive that understands and returns the complexity of the themes of motherhood and non-motherhood in a new form, that of visual art, but also ready to change skin when art calls and requires it.

Prendo pArte pluralizes the ways of expression of the Lunàdigas, multiplies them, offers another meaning to the word “testimony”.

And once again and as always, Lunàdigas makes the sharing of stories and voices our greatest strength, the added value that never places us in a dogmatic position, but that always pushes us towards a continuous search for mutual exchange.

*To ensure an optimal browsing experience of the exhibition and to make all the functions offered by the gallery available, we recommend entering though a PC browser.

An absolute novelty also for our  Live Archive, which today is enriched with the contribution of the participants of the University of the Third Age in Cagliari after the screening of the film “Lunàdigas or women without children” on April 13, 2022, made of personal stories and linguistic considerations on the terminology used in the Sardinian language to indicate women without children.

In the Stories section, a new review and a reading suggestion by Claudia Mazzilli who, with the article Italy, in order to become a country for mothers, must kill the myth of motherhood, leads us inside Non è un paese per madri by Alessandra Minello (Editori Laterza, 2022), a demographic essay that, while investigating the multiple causes of the declining birth-rate in Italy, it is also a work committed to achieving the goal of free parenthood, for mothers and fathers.

Happy sharing!
