MARINA: «I just heard Mavi’s mom interview which I find really nice… I was even moved by this woman who already as a girl, feeling strongly the lack of her mother in her life… decided to have a family even before getting married. It was very moving, I liked it very much. As far as I’m concerned, I did things quickly: I graduated at 23, at 24 I got married, at 25 I had my daughter. Unlike Mavi’s mother, I had only one daughter also because I taught and went to school, my family was away, I didn’t have as many others my family close to me that could help me to raise the child. Once I had this daughter who, quite frankly, never gave me any trouble, we were fine like this: me, my husband and the little girl. Maybe sometimes she would ask me for a little sister and, perhaps to make up for being an only child, I always had at home a large number of her schoolmates. The car was a bus, I used to take these little girls with me and wherever I went. They learned to swim, I did everything with these girls… but I didn’t feel to have a second child. If I had it now that I’m older, I might have liked it, but that’s how it went. On the other hand, my daughter – as an only child – had three children. Between the first and the second there are only nineteen months and I raised these kids. When school ended, – when her children were born I was still working, I’ve been a teacher all my life – when schools closed, I used to get my grandchildren and I would take them to Carloforte, it was like going to summer-camp together. She gave them to me when they were toddlers, they couldn’t even walk. After three and a half years, the third granddaughter was born and it was the same with her. So, for my old age, let’s say, instead of creating “company” myself, my daughter did it for me. We are very happy. That’s how things went. The three minutes are almost up,I had set the stopwatch so as not to overdo it. I think I’ve said pretty much everything.»

A l’è steta ‘n’intervista inmüggiu cumuvente, a m’è piâxüa tantu.
Pe quante me riguòrde, mi ho fetu e cóse velucemente: me sun laureò à vintitrài anni, à vintiquàttr’anni me sun mâiò, a vintisinque àiva mé figgia.
Magari quàrche vótta a figétta a me chiedàiva ‘na sorellina e, fóscia pe oviò à stu fetu ch’a l’éa figgia sula, mi g’ho delungu avüu ‘na série de cumpagnétte in cà. Â spiàggia éa u pullman, me purtova ste figétte und’anàimu anàimu; mi g’ho ‘mparàu à nüò, cun ste figétte ho fetu de tüttu…però, nu me l’ho mòi sentìa d’avài in segundu figiö.
Cumme finiva a scöa –quande l’è nasciüu i figiö mi anòva ancun â scöa, ho fetu l’insegnante pe tütta a vitta- cumme finiva a scöa, m’aciapova i figiö e m’ai purtòva au Pàize, a l’éa praticamente ‘na colónnia. A m’ai ha deti picinìscimi própriu, che nu sàivan mancu ancun caminò.
Dóppu trài anni e mézu dâ segunda, l’è nasciüa a tersa e cun lé l’è stetu auguòle. Perciò inta veciàia, dimmu cuscì, a cumpagnìa invécce de fòmia mi, me l’ha feta mé figgia. Sémmu ben cuntenti. E… cóse en anete cuscì…en anete cuscì. I trài menüti en quàixi finìi, me sun missa u crunómetru própriu pe nu sfurò e créddu d’avài ditu praticamente tüttu.»
