RO: "I have to say that I truly love my parents, because they've always supported me, they have always been very present, although inevitably, again following this logic of education within the biological family, I did not find it easy to consider them as people, as individuals, with their story. Instead, for so many years I saw them as enemies, as authorities I disagreed with. I disagreed with their methods; I didn't agree with their choices either. And only as I've grown up, and it's a challenge that's still ongoing, I am learning to respect them as people as well, who are therefore also fallible, even with their trauma, with their lives, after all, still in the process of developing. Very often, when we are bound by the logic of our biological family, we perceive our parents as if they were already fully formed individuals and therefore solid authorities that we have to deal with, even looking at our incompleteness, because we are not like that towards the authority, we, on the other hand, are far smaller individuals. And this kind of thing, which in my opinion is not respect, it's not genuine love, that would be useful in the family, in the community, in society, to be able to truly give to everyone that chance to grow, to self-determination, to be free people. In any case, my parents have always respected my freedom and that to me is the greatest gift, regardless of their methods, their ways and apart from some things I didn't agree with. However, I must say I have never lacked freedom, and although they complained here and there, they have always been on my side. When I decided to go backpacking alone in India, everyone was telling not to go because it was dangerous, including my parents, but in the end, I was able to go also thanks to them. So, it is yet further proof that there is a world of difference between what is the authoritarian and solid parental role and what is really the person you're dealing with, who keeps growing with you. I think my parents have also learned from me, which shows that care is truly something that goes beyond the family."soggetto libertà cura famiglia d'origine famiglia padre madre genitori
