Quando l'ho presa, quando sono andata dalla persona che aveva sua mamma, mi sono detta: la prendo così, da piccolina; aveva solo due giorni quando l'ho vista per la prima volta. Quando ho dovuto scegliere il nome per il mio bebè… ci sono due nomi che avrei scelto, per il mio cane, per mia figlia: Maya, come Maya Angelou, e Frida, come Frida Kahlo. Loro due, insieme a Simone de Beauvoir, queste tre donne... queste tre donne sono mia nonna, mia mamma e mia sorella. Mia nonna è Maya Angelou, mia mamma è Simone De Beauvoir, che ha scelto di non avere figli, e Frida Kahlo è mia sorella. Sono delle donne con cui sono cresciuta, nella mia testa, attraverso i libri, la pittura, i film, qualsiasi cosa. Ho cercato tutte le documentazioni che potevo avere per avvicinarmi a loro. Sono delle donne molto speciali che mi hanno molto influenzata. Le porto con me tutto il tempo, fanno veramente parte di me.
Anche la mia mamma biologica lo sa. Le chiama mia mamma, tua nonna, tua sorella. Con lei ho una relazione molto complicata ma ora lei rispetta le mie influenze, perché io e lei siamo culturalmente molto lontane. Ora mi metto a piangere."

Elle avait deux jours quand je l'ai vu pour la première fois, je veux la nourrir au biberon je veux vraiment qu'elle sache que je suis sa maman. Tu vois? Je ne sais pas si c'est bizarre d'apprendre de sa maman, mais de toute façon il allait pas les garder avec leur maman, lui. Je voulais la prendre toute petite. Voilà tout ce que je peux faire pour elle, c'est d'être là, faire attention. Je ne laisse, personne lui crier dessus. Mais oui, il y a de la discipline. Ah oui. Il y a aussi l'éducation, parce que tu mets de la musique tout le temps. Oh même aux plantes. Tu sais, j'ai une playlist sur mon ordinateur, c'est une playlist pour mes plantes. Et ça, moi je sais qu'elles ont des âmes et que ça les aide. Et il y a une différence entre les plantes qui sont dans ma chambre à qui je mets tout le temps de la musique, et les plantes qui sont dans le salon. Je te jure, il y a une différence. Ouais, je suis allée partout sans faire attention. Quand je voulais nommer mon bébé, il y a 2 noms que j'ai, que je nommerai mon chien, ma fille: c'est Maya, comme Maya Angelou, et Frida comme Frida Kahlo. Ces 2 personnes là, avec Simone de Beauvoir, ces 3 femmes, ces 3 femmes sont ce que j'ai dit, elles sont ma grand-mère, ma mère et ma sœur. Ma grand-mère c'est Maya Angelou, ma mère c'est Simone de Beauvoir qui a choisi de pas avoir des enfants et Frida Kahlo c'est ma sœur. C'est des femmes avec qui j'ai grandi dans ma tête, à travers les livres, la peinture, les films, pas importe. Tout documentation que je pouvais avoir pour m'en rapprocher c'est des femmes très spéciale qui m'ont beaucoup influencé. Je les porte sur moi tout le temps, elles font partie de moi, vraiment.
Même ma mère réelle elle sait, elle me dit ta maman, ta grand-mère, ta sœur. J'ai une relation très compliquée avec elle, mais elle me respecte maintenant mes influences, parce-que on a des cultures très différentes elle et moi. Maintenant je vais pleurer."
