Personalmente amo molto i bambini ma all'età di cinque, o sei anni, eravamo a uno dei nostri incontri... eravamo molte ragazze e mia nonna ha posto la domanda, sempre la stessa: "Chi vuoi essere quando sarai grande? Che professione preferisci?" E anche: "Quanti bambini avrai?" Chi diceva due, tre, quattro... non so... quando è arrivata a me io ho detto: "non voglio avere figli!" - "Perché?" - "Ce ne sono già tanti!"
Era pieno di bambini intorno a me, perché avrei dovuto aggiungerne altri? E l'idea è cresciuta nonostante l'abbia tralasciata. Non ho pensato ad avere dei figli e non perché mi blocchino la vita o mi prendano la libertà, ma... è stato spontaneo e naturale per me dire: "ok, se voglio avere intorno bambini, nella mia famiglia ce ne sono tanti". C'è mia cugina che considero quasi una figlia, mi è molto vicina. Lavoriamo per il bene di questa regione, dal nostro punto di vista.
Inoltre, la mia vita come donna di campagna, che viene da una regione un po'... Ghardimaou è una zona molto conservatrice. A Ghardimaou le donne ancora oggi non entrano nei caffè. Mai. Dunque questi argomenti, il matrimonio, i figli... sono argomenti tabù. La mia vita ho deciso di non viverla come gli altri, ma di fare la mia vita e viverla come voglio. Mio padre mi ha dato questa forza, lui mi ha detto, ok.
A diciannove anni sono venute le prime persone a chiedere la mia mano a mio padre e mio padre ha detto: "È ancora giovane, sta facendo i suoi studi!" E mi ha detto: "Se ti fidanzi ora, finirai per non continuare gli studi. Devi scoprire il mondo, la tua vita, devi studiare!" Così ho finito i miei studi e dopo ho avuto il problema della disoccupazione, sono rientrata qui in una zona di montagna, e mi sono detta: cosa farò qui? Dovevo trovare altre cose. Bene, io amo l'agricoltura, la natura, ho lavorato con mia nonna nell'orto, abbiamo curato gli ulivi, fatto l'olio d'oliva in casa e molte altre cose. Ma questo non è sufficiente, c'è bisogno di fare dell'altro.
Penso che se mi fossi sposata a venticinque anni - visto che oggi ho quasi trentasette anni, e ho ancora un dottorato da fare che terminerò a quarant'anni -, dunque non è proprio il caso di fare i figli!
È stato naturale, è successo così, non c'è stato alcun problema. Nella mia famiglia accettano la mia decisione. Di conseguenza io posso viaggiare, fare le mie attività, passare la notte fuori. Non c'è un bambino a casa che mi aspetta di cui io sia responsabile. Se avessi avuto figli avrei dovuto assumerne la responsabilità.
E vedo, qui nel mio ambiente, le donne che lavorano nell'agricoltura, escono alle 5 del mattino e rientrano la sera alle 6. Nel frattempo i bambini dove sono? Non si sa dove siano, cosa facciano, iniziano a fumare a otto-nove anni. Parlo della foresta, della montagna, non c'è tempo per questi bambini. Avere un figlio pone la questione di esserne responsabile. Personalmente non voglio questa responsabilità, ho scelto un altro cammino."

Et l'idée a grandi bien que moi je la négligeais, je n'ai pas pensé à avoir des enfants et ce n'est pas question qu'ils vont me bloquer ma vie ou ils me prennent la liberté, mais.. c'était spontané et naturel pour moi de dire, ok, si je veux avoir des enfants, il y plein d'enfants dans ma famille. naturellement il y avait des enfants. Il y a ma cousine que je considère presque une fille, elle est tout proche avec moi.
En plus, ma vie en tant que femme de campagne, qui vient d'une région un peu... Ghardimaou est une zone très conservatrice. À Ghardimaou, on interdit les femmes dans les cafés, jusqu'à maintenant. Jamais. Donc ces sujets, le mariage, les enfants... sont des sujets tabous. Ma vie, j'ai décidé de ne pas la vivre comme les autres, de faire ma vie comme moi je veux. Mon père m'a donné cette force, il m'a dit, ok. À 19 ans, les premières personnes sont venues pour demander ma main à mon père et là il a dit, "Tu vois?" "Elle est encore jeune, elle fait ses études !" Et il m'a dit: "Si tu te fiances maintenant, tu vas jamais continuer tes études. Tu dois découvrir le monde, ta vie, tu dois étudier!"
Quand j'ai fini mes études, après j'ai eu le problème du chômage, je suis rentrée ici dans une zone de montagne, et je me suis dit ce que je ferais ici ? Je dois trouver autre chose. Bon, j'aime l'agriculture, la nature, j'ai travaillé avec ma grand-mère dans son jardin, on fait les oliviers, on fait l'huile d'olive à la maison et bien d'autres choses. Mais cela ne suffit pas, il faut avoir quelque chose à faire. Je pense que si je m'étais mariée à 25 ans maintenant j'ai près de 37 ans, j'ai encore un doctorat à faire que je finirai à 40 ans, donc ce n'est pas la peine de faire des enfants!
C'était naturel, c'est arrivé comme ça, il n'y a eu aucun problème dans ma famille acceptent ma décision. Par conséquent, je peux voyager, je peux faire mes activités, je peux passer la nuit dehors, il n'y a pas un enfant qui m'attend à la maison dont je suis responsable. Si j'avais eu des enfants j'aurais dû être responsable d'eux. Et moi je vois, dans mon environnement, les femmes ici qui travaillant dans l'agriculture, elles sortent à 5 heures du matin et rentrent à 6 heures le soir. Pendant ce temps, où sont les enfants ? On ne sait pas où ils sont, ce qu'ils font, ils commencent à fumer à 8-9 ans. Moi je parle du milieu forestier, du milieu montagnard, il n'y a pas de temps pour ces enfants. Si je veux avoir un enfant je dois en être responsable. Personnellement je ne pense pas que je veux être responsable, j'ai choisi un autre chemin."

Well, I like agriculture, nature, I work with my grandmother in her garden, we have the olive trees, we make olive oil at home and many other things. But that's not enough, you have to have something to do.
I think if I got married at 25 now I'm almost 37 years old, I still have a PhD to do that I will end up at 40, so it's not worth it to have children! It was natural, it happened like that, there have been no problems in my family they accepted my decision. Therefore, I can travel, I can do my activities, I can spend the night outside, there is no child waiting for me at home whom I am responsible for. If I had children I should have been responsible for them. And I see, in my environment, the women here who work in agriculture, they go out at 5 in the morning and return at 6 o'clock in the evening. Meanwhile, where are the children? We don't know where they are, what they're doing, they start smoking at 8-9 years old. I'm talking about the forest environment, from the mountain environment, there is no time for these children. If I want to have a child I have to be responsible for it. Personally, I don't think that I want to be responsible, I chose another path."
